I have a Vizio TV p65-c1 dating to 2017 and thought I'd get a better apps/streaming experience by buying a Google TV Streamer. However when I connect it, the audio cuts in and out unusably: see https://youtu.be/l8W3yQYHPuk. Note that the video doesn't stall when the audio drops out.
I have a Sonos soundbar connected but the same problem occurs on the TV's built-in speakers. I've tried messing with a lot of audio and video settings (surround modes, sync modes, game mode, etc.)
I do not have similar problems with other HDMI-connected devices (Switch, Blu-ray).
Any suggestions on how to diagnose or fix this?
I'm now remembering that I had the same problem when I tried to use a Chromecast a few years ago, but I didn't put any effort into debugging it then.
Thanks,
Tim

Hi tdierks,
Thanks for posting in this community.
I understand that you are having a problem with the audio cutting in and out on your new Google TV Streamer (4K) when it is connected to your Vizio TV. I appreciate you letting me know the troubleshooting steps you have tried to resolve the inconvenience and the video that clearly shows what you’re experiencing, as this is very helpful. I would be happy to help you troubleshoot and diagnose the situation.
To get started, please provide some more information by answering these questions:
In the meantime, I recommend trying the following troubleshooting steps to resolve the audio cutting in and out on your new streamer:
Even though you have already tried adjusting some settings, it's worth double-checking for a specific audio output setting. On your Vizio TV, go to the Audio settings menu and try setting this to Bit stream or Digital. You can also try turning off any Virtual Surround or DTS StudioSound settings that may be interfering with the signal.
The most likely cause is an incompatibility with the audio format being sent from the streamer to the TV.
This forces the streamer to send a more basic audio signal that the TV is more likely to handle without issues.
Please let me know how it goes.
Best regards,
Virna
