Suddenly a green/purple tint on TV, help!

I have had my Chromecast with Google TV (HD) since july 2024. It is connected to a Grundig GLX3101T2 tv. It has worked perfectly fine until yesterday and it worked fine in the morning. Nothing was altered or changed in or around the tv. But since I turned it on last night there is an green/purple tint and the picture is blurry. The first few seconds it’s normal color but then everything turns greenish/purplish.

As I understand it can have something to do with the HDMI. The tv has only one HDMI port. This is what I have tried so far:

  • Unplugged and reconnected exactly everything = wi-fi, tv, Chromecast etc. twice. Made sure everything was firmly connected.
  • Unplugged and reconnected the Chromecast to the HDMI while tv was on.

I hope someone has some hands-on, practical solution. I would also like to know if it’s more likely that the tv is the problem or if it’s the Chromecast (or rather the connection between them). I think it’s weird that this happened so suddenly.

Hi Ulrica,

Thanks for reaching out to our community.

I’m sorry to hear that your Chromecast with Google TV (HD) connected to a Grundig GLX3101T2 TV suddenly began to present a green/purple tint and the picture is blurry since last Tuesday night. Thank you for letting us know important details such as the device's behavior and the troubleshooting steps you have tried. No worries, help is here.

Before I start further troubleshooting, let me ask you a few questions:

  • Is the Chromecast with Google TV (HD) firmware updated?
  • Are you having the inconvenience with all the apps or with any specific app?
  • Are you having the inconvenience when you stream from the Google Chrome browser?
  • Have you tried to reboot your Grundig GLX3101T2 TV set?

In the meantime, I recommend you try the following troubleshooting steps:

  1. Reboot your TV set.
  2. Reboot your Chromecast with Google TV (HD) following these instructions:
    1. Unplug your Chromecast with Google TV (HD) from the HDMI port and from the power source.
    2. Leave it unplugged for ~1 minute.
    3. Plug the power cable back into the power source and the HDMI cable into the TV.
  3. Check if you can stream any app on your TV.

If the inconvenience persists, please try the Chromecast with Google TV (HD) with another TV set.

Best regards,

Virna
