I have spent a couple nights now just trying to watch some content from Apple TV and Amazon. The connectivity is fine, but no matter what settings I try the only resolution it will only be 1080p and the menu colors are over saturated. Fire Stick works without ANY issues. The basic hardware is the same. The software is simply not good. It's a shame I really wanted to switch over to using the TV streamer. Now it's just another piece of electronics garbage. My set up is Denon X3400H to JVC RS520 projector.
I have the TV streamer and don't have that issue, it's possible the device you have is faulty, or the cable, etc. if it's new, I would suggest exchanging it for another one if you have already confirmed the cable is good.
