TV brands list is not showing up

On my new Chromecast I have following problem. When I go to settings remote control button settings and select Add device, there I select TV. But after I select TV it jumps back to add device again. Normally it should show a list of TV brands. (With my older Chromecast I can see a list of TV brands)

I tried everything, but no List is showing up in my new Chromecast. I now can not control volume buttons from my TV. Please help me. Is this because of a faulty update from Google?

I found the solution myself. I did the setup WITHOUT using my phone and Google Home. After factory reset I did the whole setup again with Google Home on my telephone. And now Factory brands are showing up and Volume buttons are working as it should.

Hi Henny,

Thanks for posting and for being a step ahead of us. It could have been an issue with the Google Home App during your initial attempt, but after setting it up using the remote, it went smoothly. It also helped when you performed a factory reset, as it may have cleaned up corrupted files and data. I’m glad that this has been sorted out. Let us know if you still have other concerns with your Chromecast device.

Thanks,

Kimy

Your answer is not what I mentioned.

TV Brands are not visible when performing setup manually with the remote.

TV Brands are only visible with telephone and Google Home setup.

Hello Henny,

Thanks for the reply. It probably is the factory reset that has done the trick then. What’s important here is that you got it working as it should. Let us know if you have other questions or concerns.

Cheers,

Kimy

Same problem... It's a bug. Very annoying. What's the easiest fix? I don't want to start over from complete resets, if that's not necessary.

I've h ad the same problem. I solved it by doing a factory reset on the TV
