Timeout Photo Stream on Chromecast

Dear All,

I run a tabletop campaign and use my Pixel Tablet to view my notes. At the same time, I stream a picture from my Photos app on the Chromecast. This is just one picture for ambience or a map, not a picture show. So the app is running in the background and I am not actively using it.

Unfortunaly, after exactly 5min the stream disconnects. The share button is greyed out and the Chromecast returns to Google TV. How can I turn off this time out so that the sharing remains active until I manually stop it?

I already changed all possible settings in the photos app, such as unlimited battery usage and deactivating the turn off during inactivity but no changes.

On the Chromecast, I ensured it is not jumping into inactivity mode, but as discribed it anyway just returns to Google TV.

Thanks a lot in advance!

Hi Chizuru382,

Thanks for posting here in the Google Nest Community. When casting, the destination device (the Chromecast device) only completes the casting task as soon as the content ends. For example, if you cast a 5:30 minute video on YouTube, the Chromecast device will go back to its home screen once casting is completed or interrupted. This now depends on the casting app that you used. If the duration of the content that was cast is not an issue, then something has interrupted the communication between the casting source and the casting destination. To isolate if it’s an interruption, disconnect these devices from your WiFi and connect them to a mobile hotspot to observe. Let me know how it goes.

Cheers,

Kimy
