Trying to set up a new chromecast. During the process I have connected to wifi and entered an email address which the screen says "you're singed in with (email address)" and the continue button on the right. I press continue and it goes to a "connected" screen then straight back to the you're signed in with screen. Going round in circles and I'm going mad!
Tried the factory reset numerous times and it restarts to the same screen as above. The power has been disconnected from the chromecast multiple times for hours to attempt reboot but nothing has changed. Its chromecast with google tv although i don't have a smart tv? My older chromecast works perfectly fine? Please help....

Thanks for posting and for being a step ahead of us. We’re sorry for the trouble, and this is not the experience that we wanted you to have. Let’s try this approach. Let’s do a factory reset one last time for a full clean-up. Proceed with the setup, except this time you complete the setup using the remote and not with the Google Home App from your phone. Once successful and completed, it should then show up in your Google Home App, and you can rename or move it to the room of your choice from the app.
If it still fails to connect to Wi-Fi, then connect it to your smartphone’s mobile hotspot instead until it’s completed, especially the update. You can then navigate using the remote to disconnect it from the hotspot and connect it to your home Wi-Fi. If it still fails, then something on the router seems to reject the Chromecast device.
