USB-C Hub still doesn't work

So I posted this about 2 months ago in hopes of actually getting some form of help or resolution. https://www.googlenestcommunity.com/t5/Streaming/Power-Issues/td-p/693278 And it's been absolute radio silence since. I'd like to be able to use my hard drive with my Chromecast again.

Hi @sabledrakon

Thanks for posting! I understand that the main issue began with a power issue on your Chromecast 4K after the Android 14 update. I appreciate you sharing the original post! Let me take it from here.

Before we proceed, I need to gather some information to better understand the situation:

  • Could you please provide the approximate date or month when your Chromecast last attempted to update and became stuck?
  • What is the make and model of your modem? Also, could you please check if your Wi-Fi router matches any of the models listed in this help article? If it does, please follow the troubleshooting steps outlined in that article.
  • Could you please describe the troubleshooting steps you have already tried?
  • What version of the Google Home app are you currently using?
  • What is the current firmware version of your Chromecast?

I'll gladly assist you once you answer those questions.

Best regards,

Debora

What does my home wifi have to do with this situation? At all? I think you might want to go back over the original 2-month old thread and take a harder look at the data there. Because this isn't a Wifi issue. This is strictly a power issue, and for some reason my Chromecast after the Android 14 update refuses to power up. Even using 30w and 40w power supplies. And I know that this is a software issue because the hardware and cable stack worked flawlessly BEFORE the Android 14 update.

Hi @sabledrakon

My apologies for the misunderstanding; I truly appreciate your patience. To help me find the best resolution, could you please provide:

  • The device model
  • The serial number of the device.

I'll be ready to proceed once I have this information.

Best regards,

Debora

When will Google release a patch to fix the bugs? It's been a long time.

No idea. I'm getting to the point of wondering if Kodi is on FireTV and if I can hook up a hard drive to it.
