Unable to change Chromecast settings on Google Home app

Hi!

I just got a Chromecast with Google TV (4K) and I noticed this while trying to set up the ambient mode. I am using an older Samsung TV and the Chromecast paired with it via the HDMI just fine, but I am unable to change the Ambient Mode settings. When trying to change the Ambient Mode settings on the Chromecast on the tv, it says the following: ”Unable to update this setting. To change your ambient settings, link your account to this TV. To do this, open the Google Home app on your phone, select this TV, and select request invite to home or add to a room”. I’m confused about this, because on my Google Home app, there’s no such things to select. I figured this is because my Chromecast appears under local devices, because I am unable to add it into a room. There is no gear icon to access the device settings, the three dots only show help feedback. I’ve tried deleting and reinstalling the Google Home app, rebooting my iPhone, uninstalling and resetting the Chromecast, but nothing is helping. I have set up the Google Home app and Chromecast with the same profile.

Hi. there!

Thank you for reaching out to the community. I'm sorry to hear that you're receiving an error message when trying to set up the Ambient mode. I’m here to help!

I appreciate you taking the time to troubleshoot by restarting your Chromecast, deleting and reinstalling the Google Home app, and rebooting your iPhone.

To further troubleshoot, please perform a factory reset on your Google TV Streamer (4K) and set up the Chromecast again. Additionally, please ensure that the device is set up with the same country and language as your phone.

Please let me know how it goes.

Best regards,

Ana
