Unable to pair Google TV Remote

Seb_1978

Good day,

I am unable to use my google TV remote. It was working fine for the last year. Google TV is working fine (I can use my Pixel as a remote, we are able to cast from our phones etc) but remote won't work. It was configured to control my receiver, and this is not working anymore either.

Tried so far:

1.remove remote from google tv and pair it again. It will show up in the upper right corner with its mac address but eventually disappear.

2. Brand new batteries, with a factory reset for the remote (remove battery, hold "home" button, reinsert battery and release home button until led goes from solid to pulsing).

3. Restart the chrome cast.

Nothing works so far... Anyone?

Hello Seb_1978,

Thanks for reaching out and for being a step ahead of us. To cover all the bases, please try to additional steps below:

  1. Check for pending remote software updates. Using your virtual remote, please go to your Chromecast with Google TV Settings > Remotes and Accessories > Remote update > Continue. The remote might briefly disconnect during the software update.
  2. Perform a factory reset on the Chromecast with Google TV. Here's a guide: How to factory reset your Chromecast.

Thanks,

Jennifer

Hello Jennifer

Unfortunately option 1. Didn't work. I wasn't able to pair the remote so I erased it from the Google TV settings, and since it's not there anymore I wasn't able to check for updates. When I first encountered the issues I've noticed that the update failed but wasn't able to force the update.

Option 2 (factory reset) seems to be working, but I was avoiding that solution since I need to reinstall my applications and logins infos on the GoogleTV.

But hey, problem is solved. Thank you!

Hi Seb_1978,

Sweet! Happy to hear that factory resetting the device resolved the issue and thanks for keeping me in the loop. Let me know if you still have questions and concerns otherwise, I'll be locking this thread after 24 hours.

Cheers,

Jennifer
