Viewport 1920x180 only in streamer 4k with Sony Bravia 4k

I purchased a Google Streamer 4K and have everything set up. I have a Sony Bravia 4K TV.

I opened a video on YouTube and when I set it to 4K, when the YouTube stats show it shows the viewport is 1920x1080, even though YouTube sends a resolution of 3840x2160.

On other TV sticks I saw that the viewport resolution is 1920x1080*2, but this isn't the case with the Google Streamer.

What could be happening? I'm using a 4K certified cable and I've also enabled HDMI enhancements on TV. Thanks for your help.

Hi @JoelRosales

Thank you so much for reaching out to this community! I understand that you're having issues with your Google TV Streamer (4K), which is only streaming in 1980x1080 despite being configured for 4K. I also understand that YouTube is only sending a resolution of 3840x2160 to your Sony Bravia 4K TV. Don't worry, I'm here to help you!

I appreciate that you took the time to confirm you have a 4K-certified cable and have activated the HDI enhancements for your TV. To give you more information about what you're experiencing, I would like to ask you a few questions.

  • What is the make and model of the phone you use to cast to your Google TV?
  • Did you try using a different phone to cast to your Google TV? If not, please try casting with another phone and let me know if you have the same issue.
  • Have you checked on another phone to see if the video quality on YouTube remains at the configured setting?

In the meantime, I'd like to share a troubleshooting step that might help you.

  • Unplug the streaming device’s power cable and/or HDMI cable and then replug them back.

Due to the importance of your Google TV Streamer (4K), our team is aware of this issue and is actively investigating to find a fix. In the meantime, please file feedback in the Google Home app.

Keep me posted.

Best regards,
Eduardo

Thanks for answering. To avoid conflicts or problems with another devices like the smartphones, I'm not casting from my cellphone. I'm using the native YoutubeApp preinstalled on the Google TV Streamer. Even inclusive, I uninstalled and then reinstalled the app to ensure I had the latest version available from PlayStore. The YouTube stats shows the viewport 1920x1080. On other simple TV Sticks shows: 1920x1080*2. The Youtube native app that comes bundled with the TV shows too: 1920x1080. The problem with the viewport is on Google Streamer 4K.

Thanks for the feedback.
