Hi GPBrown,

Thanks for reaching out to the Community. I am sorry that you are experiencing issues with your Chromecast. It's frustrating that your device is not working properly when using voice commands for your favorite shows or channels. But no need to worry, help is here.

Here are some troubleshooting steps you can try to fix this issue:

1. Check YouTube TV and Google Home Link:

  • Ensure your YouTube TV account is linked to your Google Home device.
  • Verify that YouTube TV is authorized as a default music and video service in the Google Home app.

2. Voice Command Clarity:

  • Try using more specific commands like:
    • "Ok Google, open Food Network on YouTube TV"
    • "Ok Google, tune to Food Network on YouTube TV"

3. Update Apps:

  • Ensure you're using the latest versions of both the YouTube TV app and the Google Home app (if applicable for managing Chromecast). Updates often include bug fixes and performance improvements.

4. Check Internet Connection:

  • A weak or unstable internet connection can cause streaming issues. Run a speed test to verify your internet speed. If it's low, contact your internet service provider for troubleshooting.

5. Restart Devices:

  • Sometimes a simple restart can resolve temporary glitches. Restart your Chromecast, phone/tablet, and Wi-Fi router.

6. Reinstall YouTube TV App:

  • If none of the above work, consider reinstalling the YouTube TV app on your device. This can clear any corrupted data that might be causing the problem.

7. Check Chromecast Settings:

  • In some cases, specific Chromecast settings might affect app behavior. Open the Google Home app and navigate to your Chromecast device settings. Look for options related to data usage or background apps and ensure they're not restricting YouTube TV.

Please follow this good article to Cast YouTube TV using Chromecast, to Use Google Assistant on your TV with Chromecast or check the following to Reboot your Chromecast device in case it is needed.

Let me know if you need further assistance.

Mario

Mario,
Thanks for all of your suggestions.
                                             None of them helped.
"Food Network" is the only channel I cannot access with voice command!
Voice response always is:  "Food Network isn't available or cannot be played right now"

"Food Network" is on our Live Guide for YouTubeTV and easy to get to, if we scroll down to it.

(wife is vision-impaired and really loves the voice commands!)

Thanks again,
Customer Gary

Josh,

The voice command started working today, and it was just after doing a system software upgrade on all 4 of my Chromecasts!

😁

THANKS!
