What all can I do with a Gen 1 Chromecast?

While cleaning house, I found my old Gen 1 Chromecast. After setup, the screen says "Ready to Cast." So, ...

Is that all it can do? It's just for casting from a cast-enabled app?

Yes, Gen 1 (and Gen 2 and Ultra) only worked with Cast-enabled apps.  Though, there are thousands and thousands of those apps so that's still a lot of capability.

Google no longer publishes updates for Gen 1 so at some point it is expected to stop working.
