I have been using my "Chromecast with Google TV (4K)" for about a year with no issues. All of a sudden, my Chromecast will turn off its WiFi all by itself. I go to the WiFi and click the slider back on. Then, I watch it for about a minute and then the slider slides over to the left (Off) all by itself. I have Factory Reset my Chromecast device a few times. I have Factory Reset my router a few times. I have also used my phone as a HotSpot instead of my router. I still get the WiFi turning off all by itself.
I googled and a lot of people are having the same problem with no solution available. I am currently working with Google Support and nothing has worked so far. I have burned a lot of time trying to get this thing fixed. Either Google has shipped a defective driver update or someone has hacked the Chromecast devices to mess with us.
Any ideas?

I have the answer! The Wi-Fi slider turns off after a minute or so is caused by a cyber attack. Some attacker is hacking into the system and making the Wi-Fi turn off on the Chromecast device. This attack is being caused by someone who wants to disable your Chromecast device. Why? I don't know. Maybe it is someone on the Amazon Firestick team or someone on the Roku team. Or, maybe it is just some stupid kid who is causing this pain "for the fun of it".
How can you fix your Chromecast device if this attack is happening to you? First, you need to "Factory Reset" your Chromecast *while it is off the Internet*. Unplug your router. Then, do a Factory Reset on your Chromecast device to take it back to factory fresh software (deletes all applications and malicious code like this virus/malware). Now, contact your Internet service provider and ask for a new IP address for your house. Once you have a new IP address to your house, you can turn your router back on and connect your Chromecast and set it back up. Getting a new IP address to your house is a free service from the Internet service providers. This is a critical step since the attacker kept re-infecting my Chromecast based on my IP address. The Wi-Fi sliding Off problem would re-appeared after a few hours even after a Factory Reset. However, once my Internet service provider gave me a new IP address, my Chromecast has continued to work properly for over a week! Apparently, the idiot cannot find me now. Yay!!!!
I love my Chromecast device and I am happy that I can continue using it.

Hey there Birdman2010,
I apologize for the late response, and thank you for being patient! If you're currently working with Chromecast Support regarding this issue, I'm afraid to say they have more tools than we do to troubleshoot these kinds of issues. I would keep working with Chromecast Support, and perhaps request a replacement device you believe yours to be defective.
I look forward to your response, and if you have any other questions or concerns for me, please let me know.
Best regards,
Jeran
