My Chromecast won't stay connected to wifi. I'm able to go through all the steps, including entering the 4 digit code onscreen, but when doing the final step, I keep getting the error "Could not connect to your Chromecast. Make sure it is nearby and that you connect to it when prompted." It appears to briefly connect, then throws the error.
I have tried the following steps to get my 3rd generation Chromecast to connect to wifi:
- Confirmed Chromecast is within 8 feet of my router
- Turned on wifi and bluetooth on my phone
- Rebooted router.
- Rebooted Chromecast.
- Did factory reset on Chromecast
- Uninstalled Home app and reinstalled Home app.
- Fully shut down/restarted my phone.
- Contacted my ISP, who set my router to 2.4 ghz. The ISP said that the Chromecast was still connecting to 5 ghz briefly before disconnecting. The ISP technician also rebooted the router.
I have done of the above steps several times and still cannot get the Chromecast to connect.
I do not have another tablet or phone to try and connect.
Also, the Chromecast was connecting perfectly just a few weeks ago. Now it won't connect at all.
Please help.

Hi @JimM68
Is within your Home in the Google Home App the Chromecast still present?
After a factory reset you also should remove the device within the Home. 😊

How do you reset to factory settings? Just by unplugging the chrome cast device?
