Will a Chromecast display Google Photos on a 4K Monitor via HDMI..?

Hi, Could I have some advice please?

I would like to create a reasonably affordable large digital Photo Frame using a 4K monitor and, ideally, Chromecast 4K. The Chromecast would be connected to the monitor via HDMI. I would then display photos from a Google Photo album(s) in much the same way as the Photo Frame option on a Nest Hub only on a larger display ie as a slow moving screensaver, one photo at a time. Sound isn't needed. The monitor is not connected to a computer, just the Chromecast.

Does this sound feasible..? Has anyone tried this?

Any advice/help/better ideas would be welcome. (I've thought of a TV instead of a monitor eg Samsung TV, but they are much more expensive and larger than the 4K monitor I have in mind and I don't need the tv capability.)

Thanks!

Hello @Rolf_au

Thank you for bringing this to our attention and posting it in the community.

I understand you have questions about casting photos from your Google Photos to your 4K monitor using a Chromecast with Google TV.

Here's what you'll need and how to set it up:

  • 4K Monitor with good viewing angles and color accuracy.
  • Chromecast with Google TV to cast content from your Google Photos to the monitor.
  • HDMI Cable to connect the Chromecast to the monitor.

Setup:

  • Plug the Chromecast into the HDMI port on your monitor and power it on.
  • Make sure your desired photos are organized into albums on Google Photos.
  • Set up the Chromecast with your Google account.
  • Use the Google Home app or the Chromecast remote to cast your Google Photos album to the monitor. You can set it to display one photo at a time or as a slideshow.

Please let us know if you have any further questions. We're here to help

Regards,
