YouTube videos unpause automatically after a few minutes

Hello - I just got a new 4K Chromecast for my LG tv and I'm currently having trouble with YouTube. I will cast a video, pause it and walk away to go do something, and it hits play all by itself after about 10-15 minutes. It is startling and if I am not paying attention, I lose my spot in what I was watching. Is there a setting or something I can't seem to find? I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong or how to fix it. Thanks for your help!

Hello pcklcrks,

Thanks for reaching out and I'm sorry to hear about that. Is this only happening when watching videos from the YouTube app or across all apps? Please clear the cache and data of the YouTube app, then reinstall it. Rebooting your Chromecast with Google TV (4K) and plugging it in on a different HDMI port on your TV might also help.

Let me know how it goes.

Thanks.

Hello there,

msp, I'm sorry to hear that you're also experiencing the same issue with your device. Could you please confirm if you've tried the suggested steps shared on this Community thread? If you haven't yet, please try that and if the issue persists, perform a factory reset on your Chromecast with Google TV (4K) and Chromecast Voice Remote.

pcklcrks, I wanted to check if you still need help. Feel free to let me know if you do.

Thanks for lending a hand, Archie!

Best,

Jennifer

It seems to have stopped after the most recent software update.

I mean, no longer a problem after the most recent update, Android TV 12 OS patch level oct 1, kernel 4,9,269 android TV os build STTE.220920,015A1.9261725 youtube app 3.02.006/web_20221205_09_RC00

On the other hand, thing that probably started with the android TV 12 update is forgetting sometimes that the tv is 4k and going to 480-line mode and saying 480 is unsupported (in wonderfully blury unsupported mode text) and needing manual resetting to 4k. Only does that now and then, never used to do it ever

Hi msp,

Got it, thanks for clarifying it. For the resolution, this will depend on your Wi-Fi network. You may try to reboot your router and reset your Chromecast. Please observe the behavior of the device and let me know how it goes.

Thanks,

Jennifer
