Youtube on Google Streamer continually requiring account choice.

Lately, Youtube has required me to choose an account profile every time I go back into youtube, even when if I just pause for long enough for the screensaver to come up. This is extremely irritating. What's even worse is after choosing a profile after a pause and screensaver, it oftens loses the video playing, so then I have to go to library, to go to history and find the video. I have force stopped the app. delete cache and data and worked correctly for a few hours and now it's back to failing in the same way,

This does not occur on my browsers on my pc or on my phone, only google Streamer.

Any suggestions? Thank you.

  • Device Model: Which specific Google streaming device are you using (e.g., Chromecast with Google TV)?
  • Profiles Linked: How many Google Accounts are currently linked to the Google TV home screen?
  • Updates: Are the Google TV OS and the YouTube app fully updated?
  • Quick Switch Test: If you immediately return to YouTube after switching to another app (without the screensaver), does the profile selection still appear?

Suggested Workarounds

  • Close Background Apps: Manually close all background applications before starting YouTube to help conserve RAM and stabilize the session.
  • Use Casting: Cast videos from your phone/tablet to bypass the streamer's local session management, which is often more stable.
