black screen sound only while casting directly from phone

I'm using a Sony BRAVIA 4K UR3 and have a problem while trying to cast from my phone using google cast built-in. If I tried casting from google album directly from phone, the screen turned dark but sound is normal .It works normaly when I tried casting from PC or apps.

PS. I'm not quite sure the labels are right, sorry about that.

Since casting works fine from your PC or apps, let's troubleshoot the Google Photos app itself. Please follow the next steps:

 

  • Check for updates. Make sure your Google Photos app is up-to-date.
  • Uninstall and reinstall: Try uninstalling and reinstalling the app on your phone.
  • Try a different device: Attempt to cast from Google Photos using a different device.

I have the same problem with Sony KD48-A9 and Samsung S24plus for about a month. Black screen and only audio when I cast my phone screen to TV.

Was a resolution found for this issue? I'm having the same problem to my Sony Bravia. I have tired multiple phones, Android and Apple, tried updating TV again, updating phone, uninstalling and reinstalling apps, nothing has worked. Any updates would be great!

I need help too. So frustrating. I've tried it all.

Mine was working fine for years, then recently just stopped. I don't get it. 

Mine as well, working fine for years, suddenly has issue since few weeks ago. other monitor, tv, with either Android phone, iphone all working fine, only has issue with Sony Xperia tv series

  • Does this issue occur only with Google Photos, or are there other apps experiencing the same problem?
  • What device (phone, tablet, laptop) are you using to cast? Please share the exact model and firmware version.

Hello, I want to preface this information with the fact that I have tried multiple phones, S24 running One UI 6.1 and Android 14, S24+ running One UI 6.1 and Android 14, S21, and even tried iPhone airplay as well, all with the same results of a black screen. This happens using any application that can cast, to include Google photos, Internet, and screen cast. My TV does not have a dongle, it's built in to the TV. I have a Sony Bravia 65 inch, model Bravia 4k UR2, with Android version 10, kernel version 4.19.75.

Im also having issues on this. All other apps works fine to stream with chromecast without any issues. I have a Philips 55PUS8204/12 TPM191E TV with integrated chromecast. I have rebooted / unplugged wifi router / tv / everything connected to it. TV is reset and updated. I also have reset my iphone and ipad and uninstalled / installed google photos app, also logged out / in again to google account and still black screen with just sound.

Yes, now with the last update my Sony KD-48A9 works fine!

Exactly the same problem on my philips tv as Line_Eng stated above.

 

Please fix this!
