can't pair remote with googe chromecast 4k

ROFL "choose a platform" doesn't have my TV ... its an old nonsmart TV, I guess I'll select android?

Hi, I hadn't used chromecast in awhile.  Turned it on, remote doesn't connect to the chromecast.  Remote now has brand new batteries.

The instructions here DO NOT WORK

https://support.google.com/chromecast/answer/10109990?hl=en#:~:text=In%20most%20cases%2C%20the%20rem....

I can put chromecast 4k in pairing.  I can push home+back button to get remotes light to pulse.  Remote shows up in the list of devices to connect to on the TV screen.  BUT so do several other bluetooth devices in the house.

With no remote working, I see 5 BT devices, and no way to scroll down and select the chromecast remote.

How can I pair the remote with chromecast ?

Hi whyanothername,

Thanks for reaching out to the community! I'm sorry to hear that your Chromecast Voice Remote isn't able to pair with your Chromecast 4K, even after pulsing the home and back buttons to get the remote lights. I understand how inconvenient it is when your Voice Remote appears in the list of devices to connect on the TV, but you can't scroll down to select it. Help’s here!

I also appreciate the workarounds implemented and following the instructions in the article on how to set up the voice remote. To further troubleshoot the inconvenience, I'd suggest the following steps:

  • Remove, then reinsert the Voice Remote batteries.
  • Perform a reboot on the Chromecast device. Unplug the USB-C connection from the streaming device to disconnect it from the power source and reboot the device. Leave the streaming device unplugged for one minute, then plug it back in.
  • Perform a factory data reset (FDR) on the Voice Remote. For detailed instructions, you can check out this article: Factory reset your Chromecast or Google TV Streamer Voice Remote. Then, to re-pair the Voice Remote, press the reset button once on the streaming device to enter the pairing screen, and the TV should show the remote to select it. For reference, you can see the following article: Troubleshoot the Chromecast or Google TV Voice Remote.

As an additional tip, you can try using the virtual remote as a workaround solution.

Let me know how it goes.

Best regards,

Jenniffer
