chromecast video not loading on all apps

Out of the blue Chromecast is freezing up. I get to the home menu and choose an app and then a video and the screen turns black.  I can hear the sound but video loads.  At this point when I try to navigate back to the home menu the whole thing stops working altogether and the only thing to do is turn off the TV. 

Any ideas?

To gather more information and provide you the best assistance, please provide the following information:

 

  • What Chromecast model do you have? 
  • Is the Chromecast plugged correctly into the TV and power source?
  • When did the issue start?
  • Is there any LED light on the Chromecast device? If yes, what’s the color of the LED light? 
  • Is the TV tuned to the same HDMI input where the Chromecast is plugged in? 
  • What is the Chromecast firmware version?
  • Does the problem occur when you're casting content?

In the meantime, reboot your Chromecast device following these instructions: 

 

  • Unplug the Chromecast device from the power source.
  • Leave it unplugged for one minute.
  • Plug the device back in.

Thank you!  I have no explanation for why, but it started working again.  I guess it just needed a vacation.
