Connected via ethernet. Watching streaming football, lots of pauses (spinning circle) and often the device will reboot itself.

Hi wiffleball,

Thanks for reaching out to the community! I'm sorry to hear that your Google TV Streamer 4K keeps randomly rebooting. I’m here to help!

To better assist you, I'd like to ask a few questions:

  • When did the inconvenience first occur?
  • What is the platform where you’re experiencing this inconvenience from?
  • Does it happen when you’re streaming other types of live shows, channels, or apps?

In the meantime, I’d suggest the following steps:

  • Make sure you have the latest versions of the Google Home app and mobile software.
  • Verify the condition of the Ethernet cable and, if possible, try using a different cable.
  • Verify that you are using a certified high-quality cable or an HDMI 2.1 cable.
  • Try plugging the Google TV Streamer to another power outlet and HDMI port.
  • Perform a manual reboot of your Google TV Streamer device, router, and mobile device. For reference, you can check out this article: Reboot your Chromecast device.

If the above steps don’t work as expected, try performing a factory reset on your Google TV Streamer, then set it up again through the Google Home app. Please note that this will erase all settings, so back up any important data. You can find the instructions in the following article: How to factory reset your Chromecast.

Keep me posted.

Best regards,

Jenniffer

Rebooted router and factory reset the streamer - no luck. While there have been a couple of random reboots the issue became serious while using the DAZN app to watch football on Sunday. Watching again today, one reboot so far.  Sometimes there's an audio glitch before the reboot, other times just blank screen followed by reboot. The issues didn't exist with the Chromecast used before I switched to the streamer.

Hi wiffleball,

Thanks for following up!

I understand how inconvenient it is when the app isn't working as expected. I also appreciate the workarounds already performed.

Since you've mentioned that it is occurring with the DAZN app, I want to confirm if it is happening with other streaming apps. Additionally, I'd suggest the following steps:

  • Make sure you have the latest version of the Google Home app (if applicable).
  • Verify the firmware version of your Google TV Streamer. You can find this information in the article: Chromecast firmware versions and release notes.
  • Try uninstalling and reinstalling the DAZN app with the latest version in the store.
  • Perform a manual reboot of your Google TV Streamer device again to refresh the connection.

Let me know how it goes.

Best regards,

Jenniffer
