unable to cast google photos or screen mirror with play services 25.3.35

since play services updated from 25.1 to 25.3 i cannot cast locally from any google app

youtube and other remote content is fine but not originating locally

other non-google products are also fine

please help

(removing admin and play services updates fixes the issue but of course it auto-updates back and is broken again)

i have 3x gen2 chromecasts, a gen1 hub and a hub max

yes

yes but even without the home app it doesn't work via any other app's ui

25.4 is also broken. non google local cast apps are fine such as camera explorer and es explorer, as are google remote cast apps like youtube. everything google with local sources is broken

Google Play Services app was updated today, Feb 14, 2025; please confirm if you have the last version.
Also, I recommend checking on your phone's settings that the app's permission for the microphone is turned on because if it is turned off, the Cast screen session can disconnect after it attempts to connect. To turn on Microphone permissions, please follow the steps below.

• On the Android device, tap Settings.
• Scroll down and tap Apps, then Google Play Services, and then Permissions.
• Look for Microphone and slide the slider to On.

mic permission's been on for the last decade. but i toggled it just for you. will you next tell me to be within 15 feet of my router or change the wifi channel?

issue with broken play services poor shoddy untested built-in-obsolescence rubbish code still exists

25.6 is also broken

it says "permission denied"

so chrome is also broken. seriously, does anything google make in the last 20 years work? every single thing is rubbish.
