unable to cast to any ChromeCast device, Home app can't connect to anything after setup

I've been using Chromecasts for many years without too many problems, but I am totally baffled right now. I recently bought a Hisense U8H that has a builtin Chromecast but can't figure out how to connect to it. I tried connecting my ChromecastUltra to the TV. Did a factory reset of the CCU and I am able to set it up with my tablet or phone and it connects to wifi correctly. But then it says my phone or tablet cannot connect to the CCU and check that they're on the same wifi network. They are on the same network. I also have an Nvidia ShieldTV Pro which used to work fine but now it also is unable to connect to my phone or tablet with the Home app. And Cast in the Chrome browser doesn't see any of these devices either. Everything is connected to the same wifi. I've tried restarting all of the devices. Factory reset the CCU numerous times and tried to do the setup over and over and over again. The fact that the CCU is clearly connected correctly to wifi but isn't connectable to any device is totally baffling. None of the Chromecastable apps on any of my devices sees any CC device as an option to cast to.

Hey there raksiam,

I apologize for the late response, thank you for being patient! Were you able to fix that connection issue? If not, I'd be happy to help out, as these networking problems can be tricky to fix on your own. First, what color is the LED light on the Chromecast device? If the Chromecast is throwing an error, it will appear here. I would also check out this article and follow the troubleshooting steps listed.

I look forward to your response, and if you have any other questions or concerns for me, please let me know!

Best regards,
Jeran

I connected my TV to the network using a hardwired Ethernet connection and that seems to have fixed my initial problem and I can connect to it now. So I put the Chromecast Ultra back in the drawer

Hey there raksiam,

I'm glad you were able to find a workaround! In that case, do you want to continue troubleshooting for the Chromecast Ultra, or should I go ahead and lock this thread?

Best regards,
Jeran

I guess you can close it. I am baffled by the Chromecast not working but don't have the energy to try fixing it at this point

Hiya raksiam,

No problem at all. If you want to tackle that Chromecast Ultra issue in the future, feel free to create a new thread. Or, if you would like, you can talk to Chromecast Support if you want to talk with someone live. I'll close this thread for the time being.

Have a good one!

Best regards,
Jeran
