Just found another video that provides three solutions to this problem.
One of the solutions is the one you provided. He also provided a was to
get the Common by using the fan wire (G) by moving it to the common and
adding a jumper on the controller ...
Interesting as the unit for sale on Amazon specifically says not for C
wire. Did notice in the comments that if you every use fan only this no
longer works, that in fact it turns on the AC compressor.
