Did you try power cycling the Chromecast? That ultimately fixed it for
me. My guess is they introduced a new protocol for the phone to tell the
device that the app no longer has focus, and the Chromecast needs an

I've been having this problem. I downgraded the YouTube app on my phone
(it doesn't let me uninstall it, but it does let me roll it back to the
factory version, uninstalling all updates). It stopped happening.
