Nest thermostat

Just moved into a house that had nest already installed, I've downloaded the app to set it up but I can't link up the thermostat to my app as it is registered with the old home owner. Would reseting the thermostat to factory settings resolve this?

Hi Edward,I did what David had suggested and it all worked out perfectly, I was able to get the app linked up and connected to my account.
