Hello,I'm running speeds of 896 Mbps on the main router. When I plug
into a switch, the speed drops to well below 100Mbps. There are not many
devices on the network, why the big drop?
Yes, Google wifi is my router. I'm wondering if it might be limited by
my computer. I'm probably going to explore that more- even though my
computer isn't very old. I would think that hard-wired, it should be
running more than 100Mbps.
My computer is only 1.5 years old, I believe that it should be able to
handle these speeds (It is an HP Elitebook 745 G6). I do have it plugged
into the HP thunderbolt dock, I could try it without that though.
I definitely have a gigabit switch, I’ve even tried a couple. They are
all unmanaged. I could try a managed switch , but I’m not sure that
would change anything.
