According to CoolingWizard (community member), To work with a 2-wire heat only system, you must use a Nest Learning Thermostat 3rd Generation or a Nest E learning thermostat. Only these thermostats are designed to work without a common wire.

If this is a picture of your old thermostat, i think it's straight forward unless I'm missing something. The C (blue) wire goes to the C terminal of your Nest, Y to Y terminal, G to G terminal, W to W terminal.

You can do the factory reset on your nest thermostat and it will tell you to complete the install on the Home App. You can add a new device on the app (nest thermostat) and the app will ask you to scan the QRC code on the back of your nest thermostat...
