I broke the backplate to my new 2nd gen wired Nest Protect device while installing it

The backplate broke while installing my new 2nd gen wired Nest protect smoke/CO alarm this afternoon. When I tightened the screws into the backplate while attaching it to the box, it snapped right through the plastic in the backplate.
