nest thermostat blank screen

I have a nest 3rd gen learning thermostat working for almost 2 years and the screen has gone completely blank. it is mounted correctly but screen is just black can it be an issue with the thermostat?

hi yes so the heat link top light is yellow/orange and the other two are green, i just looked that up and that shows defective heat link i think?

thanks i will try charging with a cable but wonder why is that required as should be charging on the base?
