So it wouldn't activate with my wife's Google Home app, either, but it DID activate with her Nest app. So we now have a working Nest Hello, which also automatically appeared in my Nest app.

Why are you trying to install your Nest Hello Doorbell when it's connected via USB Because it would not activate while connected outside to doorbell power and other support documents recommended connecting it to USB power so it can be troubleshot ins...
