I have installed my Nest Hello no problem, but the Home app will not connect. It says I must connect the Nest Hello to wifi *first*, even though I thought Google Home was the setup app. My phone is next to my Nest Hello and next to my wifi router. How do I get this set up? The Nest app also doesn't work. And many support articles do not address the Nest Hello. Help!
Here's link to a video of what happens so you can see I'm not crazy!

And here's the setup video from the Google Home app showing I'm still not crazy!!

So it wouldn't activate with my wife's Google Home app, either, but it DID activate with her Nest app. So we now have a working Nest Hello, which also automatically appeared in my Nest app.

Why are you trying to install your Nest Hello Doorbell when it's connected via USB rather than wired into your doorbell location with the chime connector installed? These are the install instructions:
https://support.google.com/googlenest/answer/9247327?hl=en
You cannot install the Nest Hello Doorbell in the Google Home app, although it will appear there once you've successfully installed it in the Google Nest app.

Because it would not activate while connected outside to doorbell power and other support documents recommended connecting it to USB power so it can be troubleshot inside. Also, support articles also say it can be set up via Windows, though that appears not to be true with the latest versions.

Hi folks,
Woohoo, glad to hear! For 1st gen Nest cameras and doorbell can only be paired in the Nest app. You may view your doorbell’s live video in the Google Home app by signing into your account. To make sure, do you have other questions or concerns?
I appreciate the help, MplsCustomer.
Thanks,
JT

Hey ljfrench,
It looks like we can consider this one complete, so I will be locking this in 24 hours if we won't hear back from you again. Feel free to start a new thread and we'll be happy to help.
