I have a Google mesh hub and two points, in service about nine months.
One of the points has just started to make a motor-like noise,
mechanical, not audio, after previously being silent (except when
addressed). Should I be concerned?

I don't know the answer to your question, but the unit involved is one
of two peripheral units that came with a router (Model H2D, s/n 0C241
J3AN0 XW4R if that's any help), so I suspect it's one of the newer ones.
