Thanks guys. Problem solved - the COM wire wasn’t quite inserted enough - ie it looked good, but once taken out and back in firmly it works fine. 

Hi - thanks for your reply. I have no idea how to attach an image on here ?! But my old thermostat was in sleep mode (but technically just off) - there’s still only an on and off command though.
