Nest heat link

Good evening,

I have swapped an older Salus thermostat and receiver for the Nest 3rd gen learning thermostat.

there was only 4 wires to my old Salus unit - live, neutral, COM and NO.

I wired them into the new nest heat link in the correct positions as per the booklet - L N 2 & 3.

all lights up correctly, connects to thermostat and you can press the button to activate heating - makes a click - but unfortunately the boiler simply doesn’t respond. Nothing.

it’s an old vokera boiler, but still, the Salus worked fine (just wanted to control it on my phone Etc).

any ideas?

Can you post some pictures of the old thermostat (wiring side) and how you connected the new one?
Are you sure your old boiler was on "winter" mode?

Splicing the wires 2 and 3 together do activate the heat?

Hi - thanks for your reply. I have no idea how to attach an image on here ?! But my old thermostat was in sleep mode (but technically just off) - there’s still only an on and off command though.

Hi @Brookydan , thanks for reaching out here. I would be happy to try and assist.

Like @DDS90 mentioned, it would be great if we could see a picture of the wiring done. If you are on a desktop webpage you should see a camera icon in the comment section that will state "Insert Picture" when you hover over it with your cursor.

Could you also give me a few more details about your system like, is it a combi boiler that only handles heating or a system boiler that has both heating and a separate hot water tank or perhaps a different type of system?

Thanks guys. Problem solved - the COM wire wasn’t quite inserted enough - ie it looked good, but once taken out and back in firmly it works fine. 😊

That is great to hear. I'll go ahead and close the thread in that case. If anything else comes up that you need assistance with, don't hesitate to open up a new one. Have a great day ahead!
