Forgot my Pin and Locked out, don't have the thermostat in the Nest App

I thought I unlocked the Learning Nest 3rd Gen before removing it from the app on my phone but there is still a pin on the device and I do not remember it. I am completely locked out. I tried this but it did not work for me.

Would this work with the 3rd Gen? Would it require the battery to be drained?Update: Nope, it did not work for me
