I didn't scroll down but yep these are some hassle to setup, no improvements on the newer models at all.

You have second gen that article states "for 3rd Gen or older" I would try setting them on the home app on different devices until it works. I never had the second gen but did have 3rd gens for a long time, still they had setup issues where it allway...
