Setting the date on the device hosting Google Home to a date prior to
the fault (I used 6 March) allowed me to re-establish connection to the
Chromecast and conduct the initial set-up. Once connected to WiFi, the
chromecast then downloaded its update...
Still no update on how to fix a device reset because that's what your
trouble shooting said to do! Time to tell us what you are doing and when
this will be fixed. Or decide you will replace devices you have broken.
As you should be aware, your own trouble shooting procedure says to
factory reset. You need to accept responsibility for your poor quality
trouble shooting procedures and fix this issue.
