I changed mine on my phone to two weeks ago it updated the chrome cast and then changed the date back to todays date

Change your date in your phone to before the issue began. It allows you to update. Once back updated you can change your date back to todays date

If you change the date on your phone to two weeks ago it will allow you to update it. Once updates change your date in your phone back to today’s date. Worked for me 

I spoke with someone a short time ago told that they are still working on the firmware and to leave my 2nd gen chromecast plugged in and not factory reset. Who know how’s long it will take? It’s so frustrating
