I have factory reset. Do you have a guide for me to fixit?

Set the date of your android device to March 1, 2025 and finish the setup process from the home app

I did a factory reset last week, so didn't receive the update. As suggested earlier, I changed the time on my Android to March 1, 2025 and completed the setup process succesfully. Right after that, the update started rolling in and after the automatic reboot everything works as it did before. Thanks for the effort Google!

So anyway still no update?

**There is a known fix/workaround for all those who have performed a factory reset, and it's ridiculous that Google hasn't pinned that information to the top of this page!
Literally 90% of the people now posting here are saying "I've done a factory reset, now what can I do?" or "Any update on a fix for those who have done a factory reset??".
In the meantime, I've been posting the solution everywhere I can to help those affected:

I It able to change my dates to a prior day as it’s blocked. Only automatically not manual. Help!!
03-15-2025 01:12 PM
Yes, apparently a small number of cell phone carriers lock down the date/time setting, most commonly on iPhones.
If that's your situation, then one solution would be to borrow someone else's smartphone or tablet and use that to re-setup your Chromecast. Or you can wait and see if Google comes out with a solution that doesn't involve the date workaround.

Still waiting on instructions for people that did a factory reset to their dongle how do you get it back to the original state so that I can get the update to make this thing work?

Hi everyone I tried to reset the date settings as many of people mentioned, kindly can someone help me and give me the instructions to know how I can do that. Many thanks
03-15-2025 01:15 PM
It's a setting you have to configure on your mobile phone.
You have to go into settings, force it not to automatically set the date, and manually set a date of March 8th or earlier.
Once you do this, the phone "simulates" that it's March 8th (for example), and with that, it allows you to pair and configure the Chromecast.
Once the Chromecast is connected to Wi-Fi, the fix is automatically applied and it's operational again.

Depends on what kind of phone you have.
For iPhone: Settings, General, Date & Time
For various Android phones, you'll need to Google the answer... ironically.
