Google chromcast, smart tv. All it. Does is go to home screen and wants me to connect a device. It won't let me change the internet; I changed internet service providers, but it wouldn't let me get to settings to switch connectivity

Just a basic Chromecast, connects both power and hdmi. I don’t have my old internet connection. I can't see any lights, there's a lot of heavy stuff around the TV to move. Android. Do I need to get the code and put it in the website or something? I found a way to get it, but haven't tried it yet. I think it was for casting from a device.

Hi @Mdameus!
Thank you for the update. Let's take a few steps to change your WiFi network on your Chromecast.
Google streaming devices can only remember one WiFi network at a time. If you change your WiFi network and your device isn't currently connected to a WiFi network, perform a factory reset.
If your streaming device is connected to an existing WiFi network but you'd like to connect it to a new one, follow the steps below:
For Chromecast with Google TV and Google TV Streamer, use the TV to adjust the WiFi network settings.
For Chromecast (3rd gen or older), Chromecast Ultra, or Chromecast Audio, use the Google Home app to adjust the WiFi network settings.
Please keep me posted. I'll be waiting for your response.
Best regards,
Geremi

It's connected to my new wifi, but still shows nothing but pictures on the home screen.

I tried to put Netflix on it through Google home but it didn't add anything. I found the lights, 2 blue lights are on right now

Oh yeah, apparently this tv doesn't have Wi-Fi. I don’t think it's a smart tv after all. But, it would still show options for my subscribed services.

Hi @Mdameus!
I'm glad to hear that you were able to get your Chromecast device connected to your new WiFi network!
Chromecast devices operate differently depending on their generation. Older models, specifically the 3rd generation and earlier, function solely as casting receivers. This means you can only stream content from your phone, tablet, or computer; you cannot install apps directly on these devices.
In contrast, newer models like the Chromecast with Google TV and Google TV Streamer feature the Google TV operating system. This allows for direct app installation, enabling you to access and view content without needing to cast from another device.
Here's an article that can help you identify your Chromecast device: Chromecast and Google TV Streamer.
If you have any questions or need help, please don't hesitate to let us know.
Best regards,
Geremi

it just seems weird because before I moved it had the capability to download apps on it. whatever, though, guess I'll just have to update.
