Apr. 5, 2022 iOS update of Google Home app is HUGE battery hog

I updated the Google Home app on my iPhone today.  Afterward, I opened the app briefly to check our cameras to see whether there were any changes. Seeing none, I went about my day.

Later, when my iPhone battery unexpectedly reported Low Battery, I checked my battery usage and discovered that the Google Home app accounted for 78% of the battery usage, with 1 minute on the screen and 5 hours 53 minutes background usage.  Obviously, I immediately closed the Google Home app to end this drain.

Something is seriously wrong.

Thank you for passing this on to the engineering team.  The battery drain seems to occur if you click on "Cameras" is clicked to display the camera feeds and then you don't intentionally close the Google Home app.

Hey there,
Thanks so much for the additional information about the battery drain. This definitely isn't ideal but I'll pass it along and maybe something can come out of them. I'll go ahead and lock this thread. If you have any other concerns or questions, please feel free to create a new thread.

Have a great day.
