Can not log in to Nest account or migrate to Google Account

Hi. I used the Nest app (Smart Smoke & CO Alarm) for years, but then it started asking for migration to a Google account. I did not migrate, and the app stopped working at some point - I could not log in. I wanted to log in to the iOS app with my Nest account, but I got a "Network error. Nest app had trouble communicating" error. This has been a problem for many months. A few weeks ago, I wanted to migrate to a Google account, and got a message: "Your email is tied to a Nest Account. Please sign in with your Nest password. Want to start signing in with your Google Account? Migrate your Nest Account to Google after signing in here." I enter my email and password and get the error "Oops! We encountered an error. Please try again." every time.

So there is no way I can log in to the Nest App with a Nest account, and migration to a Google account does not work either. I haven't had a functional Nest app for probably a year. How can I solve this problem? Thank you.

I think there are enough unusual aspects to your situation that you might be better walking through your situation with Google Nest Support. (We migrated in 2020, so my experience with the migration process is pretty dated.)

To contact Support:

1. Go to https://support.google.com/googlenest/gethelp.
2. Select a category/product family, and type in a brief description of the issue, then click "Next".
3. Select your device from the dropdown, click "Other", then click "Next step".
4. Under "Resources", just click "Next step". (Clicking one of the listed links will bring up a Help page.)
5. Under "Contact options", choose to get a phone call or chat with the team, depending on availability in your country
