I have a google apps account (one of the older kind, paid).
I have an old Nest account that I have had to change to use Google home-ified mechanisms (original Nest when it was a separate company)
I try to add a new user to Nest and I get this error in red:
"To invite this person, this home needs to be combined with your home from the Google Home app. If you are the owner, you can do this by migrating your Nest Account to Google"
I have already migrated it to Google.
Complicating factors. I can't use my regular Google Home account because it's in a Google domain and apparently the Nest/Home stuff can't be combined with that. So I have a dedicated account used for the Nest management. I can't seem to add new users to Google home successfully so that it can be seen/used with the Nest family feature.
I'm at a loss what to do next. The other forum answers don't seem to cover this situation.

I'm just another Google Nest customer, but I can't tell what you mean by a "google apps account" or "I have an old Nest account that I have had to change to use Google home-ified mechanisms" or "I can't use my regular Google Home account because it's in a Google domain."
I've also never encountered the error message you're getting in posts in this forum.
Note, however, that you cannot migrate a Nest Account to a Google workspace account; you can only migrate to a personal Google (gmail) Account:
Also, I think you can only invite people to your Google Nest "home/structure" using the Google Home app (https://support.google.com/googlenest/answer/9304271?hl=en&co=GENIE.Platform%3DAndroid&sjid=16271073...), and you have to have migrated your Nest Account to a Google (personal gmail) Account. I can't verify this because we migrated back in 2020.
Are you signing into the Google Nest app using the "Sign in with Google" option, using your Google Account? If not, then your account is not migrated (https://support.google.com/googlenest/answer/9297676?hl=en&sjid=16271073819468049635-NC#zippy=%2Cver...).
And anyone you invite to your Google Nest "home/structure" also has to have a personal gmail account.
If none of this helps, you can try contacting Support:
1. Go to https://support.google.com/googlenest/gethelp.
2. Select a category/product family, and type in a brief description of the issue, then click "Next".
3. Click "Other", then click "Next step".
4. Under "Resources", just click "Next step". (Clicking one of the listed links will bring up a Help page page.)
5. Under "Contact options", choose to get a phone call or chat with the team, depending on availability in your country.
