Can't call my Google Nest devices from cell phone

vargasdv1

I was under the impression that I could make and receive calls from all my Google Nest Home devices.

But I can't. When I try to call my Nest Hub max or Minis from my cell phone, it tells me that it understand and drops.

I can make calls from my Nest devices but I cant accept calls on my Nest devices.

Hi @vargasdv1,

Thanks for posting! Sorry to hear that you're experiencing some issues with your Nest Hub Max and your Nest Minis because you're not able to accept calls through your Nest devices. Let me handle this for you!

Before we move forward, I need some relevant information:

  • Did you receive any error messages?
  • Is the Google Home app up to date?
  • What command are you using with your devices?
  • Is this happening with a domestic number or an international one?
  • Was it a contact name or a dialed number?
  • Have you tried any troubleshooting steps? If so, could you list them?
  • Is this happening with a specific contact, or is it all of them?

Once you provide this information, I'll gladly assist you.

Best regards,

Debora

Hi @vargasdv1,

Thanks for answering the required questions! I also appreciate you taking the time to perform some troubleshooting steps on your own. Let's try these additional steps:

  • Let's Get Your Contacts Synced Up:
    • Go to myaccount.google.com/devicecontacts and sign in with the Google Account that's linked to your Google device.
    • Make sure the option to "Save contact info from your signed-in devices" is turned on.
    • Next, open your Google Home app.
    • Tap Settings, then Communication, and then Call Providers.
    • Look for "Contacts Uploading" and tap Turn on. If it's already on, simply tap Upload Now to refresh them.
  • Let's quickly verify that "Do Not Disturb" Mode is off.
    • Open your Google Home app.
    • Just make sure your phone or tablet is linked to the same Google Account that your speaker or display uses.
    • Tap Settings, then Digital Wellbeing.
    • Tap on the device you're having trouble with (or if you've set up filters, tap Add device filter). Simply confirm that "Do Not Disturb" is definitely turned off for those devices.
  • Let's Confirm Your Calling Apps are Connected

For Google Meet:

  • Open your Google Home app.
  • Tap on Settings. It's usually represented by a gear icon.
  • Then, just tap Communication, followed by Video & Voice Apps, and finally Google Meet. (Just a quick note: depending on your device, you might still see Google Duo listed here, and that's perfectly normal!)
  • Simply follow the straightforward instructions that appear right there in the app to complete the setup. You'll be done in no time!

For Google Fi or Google Voice (US only):

  • First, if you haven't already, please make sure your Google Fi or Google Voice subscription is fully set up.
  • Next, open your Google Home app.
  • Tap on your account icon (it's usually your picture or initial in the top right corner).
  • Just quickly verify that the Google Account shown is the one linked to your Google device. If it's correct, you can simply tap Close. If you need to switch accounts, tap the drop-down arrow to select another, or Add another account.
  • Tap Settings, then Communication, and then Call Providers.
  • Choose your calling provider from the list and follow the friendly steps in the app to link your account.

Please try these steps and keep me updated on the result.

Best regards,

Debora
