Can't remove a Thermostat from Google Home

NWJ629

After searching the internet and forms it looks like there is no way to remove a broken device from Google home. But I'm adding my problem to the list so that maybe engineers can update Google home to allow this. I have a Nest thermostat that broke, it has been removed and a new Nest thermostat put in its place. Both thermostats show up in Google home. The broken thermostat does not allow it to be deleted from Google home nor does it allow to move to a different home. So, it would be nice to know how to do this or be notified when that option is available.

Hey there,
Sorry for the late response, but I wanted to drop in here to help.

I understand that this can be confusing but I definitely wanted to stop by and see how I could help.

Just wanted to double check to see if you were still needing help on this? If so, what troubleshooting steps have you tried?

I look forward to hearing from you.

Best regards,

Sorry for the delay.  I tried multiple things that where suggested on the internet, to get the "remove device" prompt to show up but none seem to work. It has been a while since I've tried so I don't remember the specifics that have been suggested. My next step may be to try hooking it back into the system and see if that will allow me to delete it.

Hey there,

Just wanted to check in with you to see if you still needed help on this. Have you tried deleting the Google household and creating a new one to remove the device as well?

I look forward to hearing from you.

I have not tried to delete the Google home at this point in that I'd have to reinstall all of the devices for it. I'm holding off trying to install the old thermostat onto the system until the weather warms a little so if there's issues I've got time to react to us.

Hey there,

Yes that's correct. If you delete the household you'll have to relink all the devices back to the new household.

Please let me know if you have any other questions and if that step works for you.

It may be a little while before I'm able to hook up the thermostat to try removing it that way. Thanks for all your help.
