Can't see title nor artist of music playing on Google Home speaker

Priscila

I used to be able to see on my phone,  using Google Home app, what music (title and composer/artist) was playing on my Google Home speaker. Since I changed phones, from Galaxy S7 to S22 I can no longer see this information on Google Home app. Not sure if it's the phone or the app itself. The only information that appears on my screen is the volume of the music playing which I can control from the phone. Why can't I see the music title and artist anylonger on this Google Home app? Thanks.

Hi Priscila,

Thanks for reaching out.

Can you confirm if your app is already updated to its latest version? Let's go ahead and try first to uninstall/reinstall the Home app and see if this will fix this.

Keep us posted.

Best,

Princess

Yes, I've already done it, twice. No difference. Attached is a snapshot of what I see on my Galaxy phone app when connected to the Google Home speaker.

Hi Priscila,

Thanks for the additional info. Can you try to cast a different content from a different music provider? Also, have you had the chance to try a different phone?

Best,

Princess

Yes, I've tried a different phone, same result. But haven't tried other content. I've been listening to YouTube Music. Maybe they changed this feature and don't send info about what's playing any longer for non-subscribers. I'll try another content. Do you have any suggestions of what I could try, without having to subscribe? Thanks

Hi Priscila,

You can try playing content from Spotify. Just a heads up, there are ads in between songs when you play it.

Keep us posted.

Hi Priscila,

Chiming in-- have you had the chance to try the steps? Let us know if you have additional questions, otherwise we'll be locking the thread.

Hi there,

Yes, I got Spotify but it still does not show what's playing, same as with YouTube Music, no information on what's playing.

Amazon Music does not play on my Google Home speaker, I've tried, and Apple Music is via subscription only.

Hi Priscila,

Thanks for trying the steps.

Looks like the update on the Home app removed that option as other phones are also experiencing the same thing as yours. In line with this, I'd highly recommend you to send a feedback using the Home app for any changes that you will notice.

Best,

Princess

Thanks for replying. At this stage I don't really need help, just an explanation as to why Google Home app got worse. And I'm afraid it isn't going back to previous version.

The app got so much worse with latest update, and there's nothing anyone can do.
