Can't select multiple devices to turn off in routines, now "Turn off everything" broken too??

You used to be able to start a routine and select multiple devices to turn off at once. Given my home has over 80 things, this was great. Now I don't bother making any routines anymore because I can't select the 9 lights in my room at once. I have to spend over 15 minutes to do something that took 15 seconds.

My workaround was to say "Turn off everything" as a custom command, and it would turn off every single device in my home. Now I get presented with this:

What gives? Why are we changing this? This is stupid. Now I have to create 10+ custom commands to say "Turn off the living room", "Turn off the bedroom", etc etc.

Why do you keep making things worse to automate??

Hi talormanda,

This is not the experience we wanted you to have, let me help you. A few things: which Nest speakers and 3rd party smart devices are we working with? When did your issue begin? Were there any recent changes made?

It would help a lot if you could do a sequential reboot first:

  1. Unplug the power cord of your router followed by your Nest speakers.
  2. Plug them back in after 3 minutes.
  3. Restarting your phone might also help.

Once done, check all the devices that are in each room you created and control each room via voice command.

Let me know how it goes.

Best,

Dan

I'm sorry but what even is your reply directed at? Everything you mentioned has "Zero" affiliation with my issues.

What the heck is unplugging my router meant to achieve when my issue is with the App and the way it functions less than before? This is a joke, honestly.

Hi talormanda,

Totally understand that troubleshooting can be a little out of the way, but these are the most helpful steps to figure out what's going on with your device and its routines. Let's give them a try!

Also, to isolate further, without the routine command, are you able to turn off all your lights just by giving a basic command? Here are examples:

  • “Switch on and off all lights”
  • “Turn on and  off all lights”
  • “Turn/Switch on and off all lights on <room name>”

Tell me how it goes.

Regards,

Dan
