Chromecast not connecting

Chromecast seems to be connected. Yellow light is flashing. Htmi1 on TV shows Google screens average.

I go to google home and try to connect device, it does not give me the chromecast option.

I feel like I have googled and tried to troubleshoot this.

Microphone on, location on, correct WiFi connection, uninstaller home and then reinstalled. Unplugged devices, restarted phone.. I have tried all the obvious things.

Is there something wrong with chromecast/ google home?

Please help me troubleshoot.

  • Sorry l cant help you as l have the same problem.  I have tried absolutely everything to try & reset.
  • It was working previously. 
  • Very much a pain as we can't watch anything.

If your situation is similar to KellySa's, what color is the LED light on the Chromecast device? Regardless, go ahead and follow the steps listed in this article to see if they help. If not, then also go ahead and try these steps as well.

Hey there KellySa, 

I apologize for the late response, and thank you for being patient! You mentioned that your Chromecast's LED light was flashing yellow; is that correct? There is no error code for a flashing yellow light, but there is for a flashing orange light:

 

If there’s a pulsing orange LED light on your Chromecast device and a black TV screen, try the first step below and check if it resolves the issue. If it doesn't, move on to the next steps:

  1. Unplug your Chromecast from the power source, wait about one minute, and then plug it back in.
  2. Power off your TV.
  3. Plug your Chromecast into another TV.
  4. Perform a factory reset.
