Hey folks, 

If you previously performed a factory reset, we’re happy to report that the Google Home app update will reach all users today.

Please make sure you’re on version 3.30.1.6 for Android and 3.30.106 for iOS to set up your Chromecast (2nd gen) and Chromecast Audio. Check out this help center article if you need help updating the Google Home app.

If you’re still experiencing problems during setup, please reach out to customer support for further assistance.

Hi folks,

Thank you for your patience as we worked to resolve the issue with Chromecast (2nd gen) and Chromecast Audio devices. As of today, this disruption has been fixed.

If you did not perform a factory reset, your device should now function normally. If it is still not functioning as intended check the firmware version of your device by following the instructions here. If your device is not on the corresponding firmware version, please try rebooting your device to start the update process.

For users who have performed a factory reset, you will need to update your Google Home app to the latest version (3.30.1.6 for Android and 3.30.106 for iOS) to set up your Chromecast (2nd gen) or Chromecast Audio device again. The app roll out has begun and may take a few days to roll out to everyone. We’ll post a confirmation once the roll out to all users is complete.

We sincerely apologize for this disruption and any inconvenience it may have caused, and we are committed to ensuring all users are back up and running as quickly as possible.

Hi everyone,

Thank you again for your patience, we have some good news - the fix should reach all users today. If your device has received the update it should be on the following firmware versions:

Chromecast (2nd gen): Firmware version 1.56.467165

Chromecast Audio: Firmware version 1.56.467166

Check the firmware version of your device by following the instructions here. If your device is not on the corresponding firmware version, please try rebooting your device to start the update process.

Please note: If you performed a factory reset during the troubleshooting process, you may still be experiencing an issue where you cannot re-setup the device. The team is working diligently to resolve this, and we will provide next steps as soon as possible.

We have started to roll out a fix for the problem with Chromecast (2nd gen) and Chromecast Audio devices, which will be completed over the next few days. Your device must be connected to receive the update.

If you performed a factory reset during initial troubleshooting, you may still be experiencing an issue where you cannot re-setup your device. We are working to resolve this as soon as possible. Please continue to check the Community page here for updates and next steps.

An update on the situation: the team has identified the cause of the issue impacting Chromecast (2nd gen) and Chromecast Audio devices.

Please do not factory reset your device. If you previously performed a factory reset during troubleshooting, you may also be experiencing an issue where you're unable to re-setup your device. The team has identified the cause for this as well and is currently working on a fix.

We’re working to resolve this as soon as possible, and will keep you updated when there is more to share.

Se hai ripristinato il dispositivo alle impostazioni di fabbrica e non riesci ad associarlo nuovamente , porta la data del dispositivo dove hai google home ad una data antecedente l'8 marzo e vedrai che riuscirai ad associar nuovamente il dispositivo.

Of course I factory reset mine, as it is the normal wayto fix...

Will you explain us how to retrieve usage after the issue is fixed, also for people who factory reset?

My beloved (and nowadays rather rare) Chromecast Audio stopped working yesterday (as per your info). Unknowing of your info I reseted it today and started a new install. Google home will find it, for a brief moment it says it's connected to the wifi and my router sees it sending and receiving packages but google home states that my Iphone/IPad can't communicate with it. I have gone through the entire troubleshooting process but alas no luck.

Now I saw this. Is there a chance I can get an alert when you have solved this issue and what should I do?

Since yesterday the app does not work anymore.  I followed all instructions. Reset chromecast. Reset wifi. Reset app Google home. Check iOS update. Privacy settings. Etc etc. The app says: Could not communicate with the cast with your iPhone. 
I see more of the same issues in the posts!!!

Chromecast parou de funcionar ontem, erro de autenticação. Já deu para perceber que o problema é geral e mundial, o assunto está em todos os fóruns na internet.

Estou aqui apenas reforçando e esperando que vcs tenham uma posição para dar aos consumidores.

Many people have the same problem. Chromecast connection failure. Does anyone or Google have a sollution?

No... google will have to provide a firmware update or disable CC authentication for affected devices.

Desde el día de ayer el dispositivo estaba como pegado y lo reinicié y se me borró de la aplicación de Home y ahora intento configurarla nuevamente el dispositivo y me dice que no se puede autenticar el Chromecast

Min chromecast har plötsligt ett meddelande: "tillgänglig för vissa videowebbplatser".

Vad menas med det? Det har aldrig varit problem förut. Nu kan jag inte casta varken från mobil (android) eller från dator (PC Windows).

Har samma problem. Vid kl 19 igår (9 mars) slutade båda mina Chromecast Gen 2 att fungera. Är tydligen ett globalt problem. Har att göra med att nåt certifikat har gått ut vad jag läst. Men har inte sett nån information direkt från Google eller hur dom ska lösa det. 🤔

Buongiorno anche io mi sono ritrovato con lo stesso problema degli altri, purtroppo non sapendo nullo ho eseguito il ripristino delle impostazioni di fabbrica, il messaggio che compare è impossibile autentificare il dispositivo.  Attendo vostro supporto per risolvere il problema grazie.

Hi,

I have had a Chromecast audio working with a hifi system for several years.

Suddenly it does not longer connect to the local network.

I have tried resetting network and chromecast.

1. the chromecast does not seem to reset. It is solid white after reset after blinking orange, indicating that is on the network?

2. If try to set it up new, it recognizes the chromecast and goes though the stages and connectc it to the network , until just after hearing the connecting sound after connecting process has finished, then error message comes up as described in 3 below.

3. The error message that comes up is that my iphone will not connect until I have allowed google home access to local network, which it has when I go through my general system settings.

4. I have tried to connect to the chromecast network directly without success. I see the chromecast wifi network but also get a error message here.

Does this mean the device has failed? It seems very strange that it suddenly no longer is able to reset properly and not connect anymore.

 

Anyone else with the same problem or who has a solution???

I factory reset mine like 10 times lol too late.

Anyone else in the same boat can change the date to march 6th on their phone so they can add the chrome cast again and hopefully receive the fix

Well. Here I tried to change the date to 6 march, but with no succes...

 

Ive gotten very disapointed with google, and how they make customer service.

 

Will certainly look for another device to watch tv..

Hello there,

I've got several unusable Chromecast TV's and one unusable Chromecast Audio. On one of the Chromecast TV I applied the "Factory setting restore" and now it doesn't even connect to Wifi: how can this be fixed? When do you foresee we get a firmware update?

my chromecast just stpped. to. work. I tried to reboot it, to reboot internet and my Phone. but it doesn't work. I deleted it from Google. home to try to add it again but impossible to authenticate it as the error message says. please let us know how to solve this.
